Candidates are first hard-filtered by length (±tolerance), deck colour, and (if given) beam. Survivors are then ranked on two layers:
Appearance — how closely length / beam match your measurement.
AIS (if enabled) — was the vessel plausibly there & then?
present boosts,
nearby mildly boosts,
alibi (track far away at the time) rules out,
dark (no AIS) is neutral — never penalised.
A laden/lightened draught change adds weight.
Reachability & heading (for dark vessels) — if the last coherent fix was too far to physically reach the sighting,
unreachable rules it out; a course → toward the sighting nudges up, ← away nudges down.
These are skipped on GNSS-jammed or erratic tracks so spoofing can't manufacture a false exclusion.
Spoofed pings (impossible jumps) are dropped before scoring. Scores are a relative ranking, not a calibrated probability.

Tuning

Heuristic (S2 optical / S1 CFAR). Clouds/land may add false boxes. Wide blobs flagged as possible STS. Click a box → "Who Is This?", or Mark STS / Merge to split or join hulls.
Manual boxes
In draw mode: drag on the map to draw. Click a box to edit it — orange dot = move, blue = rotate, teal squares = resize sides, red × (or Delete key) = remove. Two touching boxes turn pink. Boxes lock when you exit the mode.
IR composite
Swap any band into any channel. Gain is just a stretch with LOW 0 — "Classic gain x2.5" is LOW 0 / HIGH 0.4, reproducing the original evalscript. Only B02/B03/B04/B08 are 10 m; the rest are 20–60 m and will look softer.
SWIR tuning
NIR/SWIR detection channel (Sentinel Hub). Raise LOW until the sea is black, lower HIGH toward LOW until the ships are white, then Apply. Mostly SWIR, so glint-resistant.

LLI #, date range (DD-MM-YYYY to DD-MM-YYYY),
days, lat, lon.
Every Sentinel-2 pass inside each period is listed, so a long period can yield several dates.
Skip Redshift: give a vessel and a window, and the stationary periods are
worked out here from its AIS history, then swept for Sentinel-2 passes.
Long windows are fetched in 30-day chunks and stitched.
